Last updated: September 25, 2026

Planning a honeymoon in Thailand? Whether you’re newlyweds, celebrating a second honeymoon, or travelling together later in life, a romantic Off Path journey is about stepping away from the crowds and strengthening your real connection. Every trip is private, comfortable and thoughtfully planned, so you can focus on each other.

Everything we build for you is seamless and flexible, giving you the freedom to do exactly as you please. Because it’s your time together, anything can be arranged in advance or skipped entirely, depending on how you’re feeling in the moment.

Why quiet places make the best honeymoons

Some of my favourite travel memories are from Koh Chang, where I went on holiday with my girlfriend at the time. What stayed with us wasn’t a big resort or a packed schedule. It was the slow days: a beach with hardly anyone on it, dinner as the sun went down, long conversations with nowhere else to be.

That’s what I try to build for every couple. A honeymoon in Thailand doesn’t have to follow the same crowded route everyone else takes. The quieter places give you something the famous ones can’t: space to actually be together. Every destination on this page is somewhere I’ve been myself.

A honeymoon for every stage of your relationship

A honeymoon doesn’t have to mean just married. Some of the most memorable romantic trips we’ve planned have been for couples celebrating something else entirely.

💍

Newlyweds

The classic honeymoon in Thailand: a slow, private first trip as a married couple, with nothing to organise but each other.

🥂

Anniversaries

We’ve planned trips for couples celebrating two years together, and for others marking a milestone much further down the road.

🎒

Young couples

We’ve helped travellers in their early twenties plan their first big trip together, at a pace and budget that suits them.

🌅

Later in life

We’ve also planned for couples nearly in their seventies, with gentle pacing, comfortable private transfers and nothing rushed.

Whatever you’re celebrating, we’ll shape your honeymoon in Thailand around the two of you.

Best places for a honeymoon in Thailand

Our favourite romantic places in Thailand are the quiet ones, where you’ll share the beach or the view with a handful of people rather than a few thousand.

Where to stay on your honeymoon in Thailand

The right stay makes the trip. We favour small, locally run and sustainable places with character, over big resorts that could be anywhere in the world.

🏡

Boutique city stays

In Chiang Mai, we look for quiet boutique hotels in or near the old city, close enough to walk to temples and cafés, but peaceful once the door closes.

⛰️

Mountain retreats

In Chiang Dao and Nan, think small lodges and farmstays with valley views, where mornings start with mist over the mountains and coffee on the terrace.

🌴

Island hideaways

On Koh Kood and Koh Chang, we choose beachfront bungalows and small resorts on the quieter bays, so your evenings are about the sunset, not the crowds.

Want a private pool villa or a treehouse for one special night of your honeymoon in Thailand? Just ask, and we’ll find the right place for you.

Best time for a honeymoon in Thailand

Thailand’s regions have different seasons, so the best places for your honeymoon depend on when you travel.

When to plan a honeymoon in Thailand, by region
RegionBest monthsGood to know
Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao, Nan)November to mid-FebruaryCool, clear and comfortable. Avoid the burning season haze, roughly late February to April.
Eastern islands (Koh Chang, Koh Kood)November to AprilDry, calm seas and the best beach weather. June to September is very wet.
Pranburi coastMost of the yearOne of the drier coastal areas near Bangkok. Rain is usually heaviest around September to November.

Honeymoon & Romantic Travel in Thailand FAQ

Is Thailand good for a honeymoon?
Yes. A honeymoon in Thailand combines beautiful beaches, cool mountains, warm hospitality and excellent food, often in the same trip. Outside the famous resort islands, you’ll find quiet places where you can have a beach or a mountain view almost to yourselves, which is exactly what most couples are looking for.
Why choose Off Path for romantic travel in Thailand?
Romantic travel in Thailand should be about connection, not fighting through crowds. We take couples to secluded, intimate places most agencies overlook: hidden valleys, quiet stretches of coast and authentic neighbourhoods. Every destination we feature is somewhere our founder Dee has been personally, so your trip feels like a private discovery rather than a standard holiday.
What are the best places for a honeymoon in Thailand?
For a quiet, romantic trip, our favourites are Koh Kood and Koh Chang for islands, Pranburi for an easy coastal escape from Bangkok, and Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao and Nan for mountains, culture and slow days. Many couples combine the north and the islands in one trip.
How many days do you need for a honeymoon in Thailand?
Around 10 days is ideal for most couples: enough for a few days in the mountains and a longer, unhurried stay on an island. Seven days works well if you focus on one region, while two weeks lets you add a third destination without rushing.
When is the best time for a honeymoon in Thailand?
November to February is the best time for most honeymoons, because the north is cool and clear and the eastern islands are dry. Avoid the north during the burning season, roughly late February to April, and the eastern islands during their wettest months, June to September.
How much does a honeymoon in Thailand cost?
It depends on the length of your trip, the style of stays you choose and how many private experiences you add. Because every Off Path Thailand honeymoon is built from scratch, we price it around your plans. Tell us your dates and budget and we’ll suggest what’s possible.
Is romantic travel in Thailand suitable for older couples?
Absolutely. We plan romantic trips for every stage of a relationship, from couples celebrating two years together to travellers in their early twenties and couples nearly in their seventies. For older couples, we focus on gentle pacing, comfortable private transfers and stays that make every day easy.
How flexible is the itinerary?
Completely. Everything can be arranged in advance, but your plans are never set in stone. If you wake up and decide to skip an activity and stay in, that’s fine. The best romantic travel in Thailand follows how you feel on the day, not a fixed schedule.
Can we customise our trip?
Yes, customisation is at the heart of everything we do. From hidden boutique stays to private dinners, your trip is built from scratch around your vision. We handle private drivers, sustainable stays, local guides and ferry connections, so you never have to think about logistics. Contact us or message us on WhatsApp to start planning.
Should we combine the mountains and the islands on a Thailand honeymoon?
If you have 10 days or more, yes. Starting in the cooler north with temples, markets and hot springs, then finishing with slow beach days on an island, gives your honeymoon a natural rhythm: a little adventure first, then pure rest.
